Introduction
Environmental Health is the assessment and management of environmental influences on human health. This includes the study of:
Most environmental health students are motivated by a desire to directly improve living conditions to the benefit of a wide range of people. Environmental impact assessment, sustainable development, combating air, water, noise and land pollution are increasingly important and there is a pressing need for graduates with skills in these disciplines. Correspondingly, the course provides an emphasis on teaching subjects that are relevant to contemporary problems faced by the communities, government, industry and commercial organisations.
Overview
The Bachelor of Technology honors degree is designed to provide participants with expertise in current methods for examining factors that affect human health, assessing and managing the risks involved, and meeting the challenges resulting in the interaction between people and the environment. The graduates should be capable of exercising management and control in the environmental and occupational issues.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the entry requirements prescribed under academic regulations of the National University of Science and Technology for admission.
Mode of Study
The Bachelor of Technology honors degree programme is a two year programme run on a block release basis
Duration
For Apprentices: the duration of all NC Courses is 39 weeks (1 year - 3 thirteen week terms)
For Direct Entry students: 3 years as follows.
- First year - College Attendance
- Second year - Industrial Attachment
- Third year - College Attendance
Professional Recognition
The Bachelor of Technology Honours Degree in Environmental Health is offered in affiliation with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
